Visiting Guidelines

The Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery (BNM MAG) and Museum Shop are open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Free admission!

Below are the safety guidelines applicable to all visitors during your visit to BNM MAG:

  1. ‘Walk-in’ admission is allowed.
  2. For educational tours and group visits of more than 20 pax, prior booking via e-mail is required. Kindly e-mail to infomuseum@bnm.gov.my
  3. Bags, food, drinks and other camera accessories including tripod and monopod are not allowed. Only wallet, mobile phone and camera is allowed in the gallery.
  4. Only a limited number of lockers will be available for storage, if needed.
  5. For security purposes, BNM MAG is monitored with CCTV.
  6. The Museum Shop only accepts payments via debit/credit card.

Museum Etiquette

Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery reserves the right to refuse entry to visitors if they are found violating the rules. Following proper museum etiquette helps ensure that all visitors will have a meaningful experience while at the museum.


Touching

Avoid touching the artwork/artefact exhibited in the galleries as it may damage the value of the artwork/artefact. Touching can damage artwork/artefact. Keep a safe distance of at least 3 steps between you and each artwork/artefact.

Food and Beverages

Food and drinks should only be consumed at the Museum Café or at the designated area outside the museum building.

Security

Bags may be subject to inspection. All bags are not allowed in the galleries.

Lost and found

Items found in the museum should be immediately handed to the museum counter or to any security personnel on duty. Unclaimed lost items will be destroyed after one month. Please contact us at +603 9179 2784 for any enquiries regarding a lost item.

Photography and Videography

Photography and videography are only allowed for non-commercial purposes. Camera flashes should not be used in the Art Gallery. Approval from Bank Negara Malaysia Management is required for any other types of shoot. Other camera accessories including tripod and monopod are prohibited.

Noise

Please speak softly while in the museum to fully appreciate the exhibition and in consideration of the other visitors.

Accessibility

All galleries and facilities are accessible for wheelchair and stroller users. If needed, wheelchairs and strollers are available for loan at the museum counter located at the Ground Floor.

Dress code

Visitors are advised to dress appropriately and are discouraged from wearing rubber or slippery footwear to avoid slipping. Suitable clothing for an air-conditioned building is advisable.

Playing

Please avoid running, pushing and boisterous activities to prevent falling on to the artworks/artefacts and endanger other visitors. Young children should be accompanied by adults at all times.

Pets

Pets are strictly not allowed in the Museum.
