‘ Technology in Finance: Bricks to Clicks ’ Exhibition

The new millennium has brought unparalleled development in financial technology, or now more commonly known as FinTech.

Today, innovative technology has tested the financial industry as major financial institutions, borne from the brick-and-mortar era, have to contend with the rapidly changing landscape led by new players, ranging from large conglomerates, to lean startups.

Although some financial services remain the same, others are entirely new. With many new products in the market, this rate of change can be dizzying. However, innovation in finance by using technology is nothing new as it has been happening since the 1800s.

“Technology in Finance: Bricks to Clicks” exhibition showcases the ways advancement in technology have changed the financial industry, and how that in turn is affecting our everyday lives.

Main Segments of the Exhibition

Technology in Finance

This section walks the visitors through the concept of technology in finance and its importance, followed by the evolution of financial advancement from 1800 until present day.

This includes showcasing major theories, creations and innovations which aim to elevate the financial system to a higher level.


The exhibits showcase views from two perspectives:
• Evolution around the World
• Evolution in Malaysia

Fintech in Malaysia

This space highlights the concept of Fintech in the 21st century whilst clarifying some common misconceptions about Fintech and e-payment systems.

There will be information on BNM’s role in supporting Fintech development.

This section also features interactive play-to-learn games to show that the way we live our lives, has moved from storefront to our phones, through connected devices. It shows that technology will be used pervasively to increase efficiency, to better manage risks, and to create new opportunities.

Mini Innovation Lab

A space where everyone can share ideas and wish list on how technology can improve everyday lives by making it more comfortable and efficient.
