This exhibition brings to life the story of Tun Ismail Ali, the first Malaysian Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia.
Tun Ismail Ali was instrumental in establishing the foundations of Bank Negara Malaysia and of the nation, his contribution spanning across every major sphere of economics, finance and development.
In his journey to overcome the significant challenges inherent in a newly-independent Malaya, he relied on the clarity of his vision, unrelenting perseverance and unquestionable integrity. Building on the solid foundations laid by Tun Ismail Ali, Malaysia would, in time, be on the cusp of achieving its goal of becoming a high-income economy. Even decades since his passing in 1998, the impact of his contributions continues to resonate.
Yet, despite being a cornerstone of the nation, Tun Ismail Ali remains relatively unsung.
This exhibition chronicles Tun Ismail Ali’s journey, both personal and professional, to record his philosophy, contributions and achievements. It is hoped that future generations will benefit from his exceptional example.
